CASL $1500 SC2 Edmonton Open Recap + VODs

This weekend was Edmonton’s biggest StarCraft 2 prize pool to date – the $1500 Edmonton Open hosted by the Canadian Amateur Starleague. This event would also be OverKlocked’s first two day event and it was definitely a success. Day one was to play the qualifying rounds – round the tournament out to a top 16 pool of players for day 2. Of these top 16, the top 4 got to select their groups for the second day which kicked off with the group stages where the top two players from each group would make up an eight man single elimination bracket to compete for the remainder of the prize pool & glory as top 16 was in the money. The event was covered by prodiG from ESVTV and eGeek with support from Ander and Zack on the mic and Shelby behind the scenes keeping the stream up and running all live on ESVTV.

The top 8 players were, ordered by team:

-OKGArchaic (T)
-OKGSunshine (Z)
-OKGAndro (P)
-OKGAnder (P)
-NrGDime (P)
-SaroVati (P)
-ClashDrone (Z)
-Ceevee (Z)

A total of 4 Protoss, 3 Zerg and a single Terran in the round of 8 and they had some fierce competition. Each and every one of these players is very well-deserving of the spot, having individually shown success in past events in Alberta and elsewhere. The round of 8 saw OverKlocked Gaming’s captain OKGArchaic knocked out with a teamkill from OKGSunshine in a swift but close 2-1 series with Sunshine showing some absolutely brilliant ZvT play. NrGDime and OKGAnder met in a brutal PvP and Dime showed Ander who was the boss, leaving Ander unable to deal with it. SaroVati showed again why his PvZ is the best around with a clean 2-0 victory over Ceevee and OKGAndro sent ClashDrone packing with a 2-1 that saw the final game between them unfold into an epic 36 minute match that saw two motherships used throughout the course of the game.

As for the semifinals and finals… We suggest you watch and see:
